Proposal Rejected

Gov. Owens has objected to Senate Bill 93.

The bill was proposed by Boulder Senator Ron Tupa, who says it was designed to prevent abuses such as those discovered last year. Lawmakers accused then Lt. Gov. Joe Rogers of sloppy accounting.

They also asked him to repay the state $5,800 for political trips and other inappropriate expenses. But, Rogers refused.

Colorado Springs Senator Ron May says Rogers is now out of office and there's no evidence others are abusing the current law.
