Snowboarder Death

The Summit County coroner says a 22-year-old snowboarder who died at Keystone Ski Resort suffered internal injuries. Preliminary autopsy reports indicate Derrick Lesnick, of Colorado Springs, died Friday from multiple injuries and a lacerated liver.

Lesnick was apparently injured after he went off the second jump at the resort's terrain park Friday. Coroner Joanne Richardson says Lesnick was not wearing a helmet, but he did not sustain any head injuries.

Lesnick is the eighth person to die at Keystone this season.

Vail Resorts spokeswoman Kelly Ladyga says two deaths were related to heart conditions, and two were employees. Lesnick was one of four snowriders who died.

It is the 12th accidental death of a snowrider this season in Colorado.
