Mountain Snow Pack Declines to Average

By  |

A week after heavy mountain snow boosted bases at ski areas and raised the snowpack to 104 percent of the 30-year average, levels now trail last year's figures.
On Monday the snowpack was 100 percent of average. The Natural Resources Conservation Service says the snowpack was 109 percent of average on the same date last year.
In a total reversal of last year, heavy snows in the north have boosted levels while the snowpack in the south is below 50 percent. Last year the southern snowpack was at record levels in some areas.
