Glittering lights, festive floats, maybe a glimpse at Santa Claus--what better way to mark the first day of December and ring in the holiday season than the Colorado Springs Festival of Lights Parade?

The parade, in its 28th year running, began at the corner of Tejon and St. Vrain in Colorado Springs and runs south on Tejon, ending at Vermijo Avenue.

Forest Supervisor Jerri Marr, best known for her calming, straightforward demeanor during the Waldo Canyon Fire, was the 2012 Grand Marshall.

Floats lit up with snowmen, reindeer, Christmas trees; marching bands setting the mood with Christmas carols; and best of all, streets filled with people from across the city and county gathered together to celebrate the 2012 holiday season.
