The number of reservists being called to active duty is rising.

The Army, Navy, and Marine Corps have activated about 16,000 national guard and reservists nationwide.

800 soldiers from Minnesota and North Dakota arrived at Fort Carson Wednesday. They're the 142nd Engineer Battalion. The unit will build and repair roads, bridges, and whatever else in needed.

The battalion spend a couple of weeks there before heading to Southwest Asia.

In addition to the Reservists that arrived Wednesday, 26 more units with more than 1,500 soldiers from 9 states have orders to report to Fort Carson.

All of the Soldiers could be on a year of active duty, supporting any potential war with Iraq.
