Colorado Soldier Killed in Iraq

A Colorado soldier killed in Iraq is being remembered as someone who tried to do right, even as a child.

Family members and friends gathered to pay tribute to 49-year-old Staff Sergeant Mike Parrott in his native North Carolina on Saturday.

He died from a sniper's bullet November Tenth while patrolling an Iraqi highway.

Parrott's aunt, Colleen Cody, says she remembers her nephew as a small boy, patrolling a creek near his home for evildoers.

He and his wife, Meg Corwin, often ran along the Appalachian Trail, and in the Rockies near their home in Timnath (Colorado).

He most recently worked construction at Colorado State University in Fort Collins.

Parrott was a member of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard's 28th Infantry Division.
