A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Two separate crashes near Schriever Air Force Base slowed the morning commute Thursday.
The first crash was reported at Highway 94 and Curtis, the second while the second was a five-car crash at Highway 94 and Blaney Road. Colorado State Patrol says there are no reported injuries in either.
While crews worked to clear the scenes, drivers reported heavy backups in the area.
