Pueblo police arrested two people after they chased a suspicious car. An officer's squad car was damaged during the chase.
The chase started around 2:30 a.m. Friday when officers tried to stop a car near Sprague and Carteret. The driver didn't stop and officers believed it was too dangerous to chase them.
The officers saw four people in the car and thought one of them may have been a homicide suspect from La Junta. Officers searched for the car and later spotted it. They again tried to stop the car, but the driver took off.
This time officers chased. One police vehicle crashed in the 200 block of E. Orman Ave. right by Central High School. The officer was treated at the hospital for his injuries and released.
Other officers continued to chase the car and used a PIT maneuver near Jones and Rose. That forced the car to stop. Officers arrested Michael Hernandez, 28, on three felony warrants which included a $25,000 car theft warrant, a no bond dangerous drugs warrant and a no bond escape warrant.
They also arrested Veronica Espinoza, 19, on a $2,000 warrant out of Lakewood. Hernandez will also face charges related to the chase.
