A carjacking suspect led police officers on a chase in the stolen vehicle Thursday afternoon on the east side of Colorado Springs.

According to Springs police, Brett Harris, 33, took a gold Ford Taurus at gunpoint from outside a Little Caesar’s on the 2900 block of Galley Road.

Surveillance video shows the suspect walk up to the Taurus carrying a bag. Seconds later, the car's owner comes running out of the restaurant. The owner hangs on to the side door while the suspect begins to drive away.

Officers spotted the vehicle a few minutes later at Platte Avenue and Murray Boulevard traveling eastbound.

Officers tried to stop the car, but say Harris refused and led them on a chase. Eventually, he drove onto a field at Fountain Boulevard and Aeroplaza Drive. He got out of the vehicle there and was arrested.
