A process called thermography scanning is a new technology here in the Springs. The technology can help doctors see a tumor growing. Although thermography doesn't replace a regular mamogram. One nurse says it can put your mind at ease. The scan corralates temperature with color. As a tumor grows, the body responds by pumping bllod to the area, and the blood produces heat the camera can see. If the colors aren't the same on both sides, it's a warning that cancer may be present. One Springs radiologist says the concept makes sense but that the technology isn't proven at this point. The scan costs $150. The clinic recommends two scans three months apart to get a bseline and then one each year. If you'd like more information on thermography scanning call 719-260-0095.
