More than a year after a tornado struck the small southeastern Colorado town of Holly, its mayor is reaching out with a message to those affected by the tornado

Holly Mayor W. Bruce Roup has asked Gov. Ritter to convey the following message to the people of Northeast Colorado:

"We are deeply concerned about the news coming out of Weld County this afternoon regarding another terrible tornado disaster in our State. Our spirits are wounded anew by the reports of loss of life, damage and carnage. Our community will commit to holding you in our thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time.”
- W. Bruce Roup, Mayor, Town of Holly

The tornado that struck Holly in March of 2007 killed 2 people and destroyed or damaged more than 180 homes.

W. Bruce Roup was not Holly's mayor at that time, but he did live in Holly, and his home was destroyed.
