The Air Force Academy's new superintendent is vowing to create a safe environment for cadets at the school.
Lieutenant General John Regni takes over after scandals involving sexual assault and allegations of religious intolerance. He was installed at a ceremony Monday.
Regni says his experience as commander of the Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama will help him in his new post. He insisted that the academy will have a positive learning environment, free from discrimination and assault.
Regni, an academy graduate, replaces Lieutenant General John Rosa, who was brought in to help the academy recover from a sexual assault scandal.
Rosa resigned to become president of his alma mater, The Citadel, a military college in South Carolina.
