The Centennial jury hearing the penalty phase of a convicted killer's trial has found that aggravating circumstances exist in the case, and the defendant is eligible for the death penalty.

The same jury last week found 23-year-old Sir Mario Owens guilty in the 2005 deaths of Javad Marshall-Fields and Marshall-Field's fiancee, Vivian Wolfe.

Jurors deliberated about two hours Tuesday before deciding that Owens' case met all five of the aggravating factors necessary for Owens to be eligible for execution. If the jury had not found aggravating factors, Owens would have automatically been sentenced to life in prison.

The defense will begin presenting its case Wednesday, hoping to convince jurors that Owens should be spared death and sentenced to prison instead.
