A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after getting stabbed at a local concert on Saturday afternoon near Platte Ave.
Beat 96.1 was hosting the small concert at the Colorado Springs Flea Market.
Police say there were about 2,000 people at the concert plus another 5,000 who were there for the car show and flea market.
Police say too many people attended the concert and things got out of control and one man ended up in the hospital with critical wounds.
The SWAT Team geared up with their helmets and shields prepared for anything. "We had over 2,000 people here with the propensity of a large crowd riot. We had the SWAT Team brought over just as a safety measure," said Lt. Patricia Feese with the Colorado Springs Police Department.
"Honestly, the atmosphere was great," said Jared Goldberg, Program Director of KIBT, 96.1 Beat Radio.
But an unexpected twist. Police say in the middle of the live show the crowd went haywire.
"When the concert broke out, things got out of hand," said Lt Feese.
Several fights erupted and police say a mob of people went wild.
"In the three years this station has been in existence we have never had an incident at any one of our events," said Goldberg.
Punches were being thrown until someone decided to pull out more than their fist. A knife was drawn and 20-year-old Levi Littlebear Regalado went down.
According to a Myspace page believed to be Regalado's, he's a tattoo artist and construction worker.
"Our listeners are usually pretty responsible," said Goldberg.
Goldberg says a few bad apples ruined it for everyone.
"I was really mad," said Kimberly Dixon, who wanted to see the concert.
Police say there were no witnesses to the stabbing but they hope Regalado will be able to tell them who did it.
Also, the owner of the Colorado Springs Flea Market did not have the proper permits for the concert but police say he won't be ticketed.
