Friday afternoon, Colorado Springs firefighters went through intense training scenarios inside and out of an abandoned downtown structure.
Fake smoke was used to help simulate a structure fire. Fire crews also hooked up to fire hydrants using flowing water to make the exercises as close to "real" as possible.
Firefighters also practiced top-side ventilation on the roof of the structure.
Colorado Springs Fire Lieutenant David Broch says these kinds of scenarios help prepare firefighters for the worst.
