Authorities say a Seattle University associate professor of military science has been arrested in Canon City, Colo., accused of several crimes related to soliciting a child for prostitution.

Canon City police say Andrew Douglas Franz, 41, flew to Colorado late last week to meet what he thought was an underage girl with whom he had been corresponding online. Franz had really been corresponding with a Colorado law enforcement team that focuses on Internet crimes against children.

Police say Franz is being held in Fremont County for investigation of eight offenses, including soliciting for child prostitution.

University Provost John Eshelman has sent an email to students, faculty and staff, saying the university is cooperating with law enforcement. Franz has worked with the school's Reserve Officers Training Corps.
