A religious group with Colorado ties is planning to distribute 250,000 Pittsburgh-themed Bibles in advertising pouches delivered with editions of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
CityReachers Pittsburgh, an outreach of the Colorado Springs-based International Bible Society, hopes to send New Testaments to the newspaper's subscribers in Allegheny County and some border communities on September 7.
The front cover will show the city's Golden Triangle. The back cover will show Pittsburgh Steelers football players kneeling in prayer.
So far, CityReachers has raised just $350,000 of the $625,000 needed to distribute the New Testaments to 250,000 households.
It has until May 31 to raise the remaining money to meet a printing deadline.
