The last day of September set a record for filings at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Denver.
The court set a single-day record for filings with 433 on Friday.
Court officials say the record will probably fall soon. They expect a flurry of filings before stricter bankruptcy rules take effect October 17th.
The new law includes higher filing fees and requires credit counseling and debt education.
About 28,000 bankruptcies have been filed so far this year in Colorado. The total for all of last year was 27,993.
