A woman was attacked in broad daylight Saturday and her alleged attacker is now facing kidnapping charges. Monday afternoon, Colorado Springs police announced the victim is in fair condition.

Police say the mid-day assault happened at the Target on Cheyenne Mountain Blvd.

The victim, 59-year-old Garnett Wright, says she was hit in the head, tied up with tape, and driven away in her own car.

Police found her and the suspect, Timothy Clapp, 41, at an apartment complex near Galley Road. Officers say they used the GPS system from Wright's cell phone to track them down.

Clapp is facing charges of kidnapping, assault and robbery.

Wright is recovering from her injuries.

Hal, I like your way of thinking! It is so true; the punishments the judicial system hands out for crimes against another as mere "slaps on the wrist" at best. Criminals will continue to exploit any/all crimes they "think" they can get away with unless we have mandatory sentences that send the message "Beware, you're looking at serious prison (not jail) time for this!" Add into the equation the amount of law abiding citizens getting concealed weapons permits, criminals better be thinking about another career path if they want to live to an old age. My Wife and her Glock are best friends, same with me and my Ruger!

This is my Mother's ex abuser. He has been stalking her and he has been a threat to her as well as myself. He got out of jail last Wed after repeated Restraining order violations. The courts let him free, and see what happened? I pray for that poor lady and I know that God was watching out for her.
