A dog attack in the Springs Thursday night leaves two people with leg injuries.

It happened just after nine p.m. at a home on Montebello Drive.

Police say the two adults were bitten by a pit bull that was in the garage of their relatives. The two just arrived in town and were trying to move in when they were bitten.

The Humane Society has quarantined the dog and no charges have been filed.

It seems to me that everyone always is quick to blame the dogs. Lets blame the owners that do not know how to train a pitbull. Pitbulls are not aggressive they are trained to be aggressive by owners. Kind of like when someone is shot they always blame the gun, the owner of the gun is the person that pulled the trigger the gun does not fire by itself. I have owned pitbulls and they are the best dogs I have ever had. Pitbulls are fear biters they will only bite when backed into a corner or threatened. Lets get some common sense people dogs are wild animals and whether that be a pitbull, lab, siberian husky, etc., they will protect their territory.

Posted by: Courtney Location: Fort Carson on May 13, 2008 at 02:20 PM
The dog was protecting his territory. ANY dog would do it, and Im sry to say but if you research you will see that any dog has had bitten people. I mean even poodles the things people are so precious and think are perfect. It's all how society looks on them. It's ALWAYS society and how they are looked down upon. It's horrible and ridiculious!!

Pit Bulls have a tendency to be aggressive. It seems too many people have them so they can spend the rest of their days whining about being misunderstood. It's hard to get in someone's face about your Beagle. You pick a fight as soon as you choose the breed. Of course, some are nice. But mostly they have earned their reputation. The locking jaws seal the deal for me.

You people are idoits! The people are out of town relatives that went into the garage of this dogs home. He was protecting it. The dog should be allowed home. In general, don't blame the pit bulls blame the stupid people that abuse or mistreat them! Or blame the idoits like ami & anonymous who don't have enough education to know that any animal can bite not just pits

I do believe somewhat , that a dog can be good or bad, however, How come every time you hear of a dog attack, its 99.9% of the time a pit bull. Lets face it. has dog lover myself. they are dangerous. As, a Landlord I would never allow a tenant to own one, unless they had a hell of alot, insurance, and their is a reason for it. THEY ARE DANGEROUS BREEDS.

SMF, I totally agree with you. I don't have a pitbull, but I feel the same way about my dog. Thanks for being a responsible pitbull mommy.

I own a pit bull with the FULL understanding that IF he bites anyone EVER he will be put down at my own doing. He is a big baby to those he knows and a awsome watch dog for those he dont, but I may bite and it is my responciblity to make sure it does not happen. Pit bull owners should take every precaution there is to assure that the dog doesnt harm any one. Although I am a firm beliver that it is not the breed but the way thay are treated and brought up as puppies.

There's record of a Pomeranian killing a baby on the CDC website. IF you do some reading up on the history of pit bulls you would find that they were bred to fight bulls in the ring but were considered to be family pets who stayed in the homes with the families. They were NOT initially bred to be aggressive towards people. My pit bull mix spent the first 2 years of his life being beaten, starved, and locked in closets by people trying to make him mean. He was almost killed with a rock bashed on his head because he wouldn't get mean. Luckily he was taken away by court order and sent to a rescue where we adopted him from. We've had him for 10 years and he is absolutely the sweetest thing and he has a good heart. I can honestly say that anyone who has met him has loved him. Everyone at our vet's office says he should be the spokesdog for all pit bulls. I'm only here for the truth, not propaganda and paranoia.

I can honestly think in the history of humans a pomeranian has EVER killed a human being. All pit bulls are evil little beings that are an accident waiting to happen.

Granted that pitbulls are possibly only viscious if they are bred to be, here's the crux of that: pitbulls are largely and commonly bred for fighting/aggressiveness/watchdogs. It makes it very difficult if not impossible to determine whether or not there is a dog in the line that was bred to be aggressive. So even if you didn't get your pitbull with the intention of having a fighting dog, that doesn't mean that your pit doesn't have lineage bred for aggression. Unfortunate, but it's the case. Always be careful buying your dogs - pit or not.

checked out pbrc.net So any dog that bites should be put down or their owners should be put in jail

Posted by: bill Location: springs on May 10, 2008 at 06:47 PM
pit bulls are mean until they are trained different. My 9 month old son was attacked by a pit bull puppy. The dog did a lot of damage to my son. The owners insisted that the dog was nice and never showed signs of agression before.. SO IF YOU OWN A PIT BULL YOU ARE TAKING A RISK!!!!!

Posted by: Anonymous Location: csc on May 10, 2008 at 06:25 PM
megan you are right, the owners need to be held accountable for their dogs behavior. Yes all dogs are known to bite people. It's PIT BULLS that are known to do the most damage when they attack. And yes some pits can be raised to be sweet and loving animals but attack someone walking by the garage. Pitts are just as dangerous as wolves.....

Posted by: Megan Location: Pueblo on May 10, 2008 at 12:10 PM
aw yes always the pitbulls fault never the owners. Pitbulls are NOT mean unless they are bred to be that way, and if it was in a garage where the people were moving into..you ever stop to think that the dog was protecting it's territory. Tragic they were bit but people need to stop blaming the breed and start blaming the owners.

Posted by: Barb Location: Colorado Springs on May 9, 2008 at 09:36 PM
My only hope is that people educate themselves before making an opinion on this topic. Was the dog scared because strangers were coming into its house? Was the dog in heat or an unneutered male? Was it even a pit bull? You'd be surprised how many mistakes are made. I have a 12 year old pit bull who loves everyone and has NEVER bitten anyone. I trust more pit bulls than I do people in today's society. Does Anonymous want every dog who bites someone put down? There are cases where Labs, Huskies, several other breeds, and even a Pomeranian have killed people and children. Just because pit bull cases are publicized and others are not doesn't mean other dogs don't bite. I sure hope that you and ami aren't as prejudiced against people as you are against this breed of dog. Please visit pbrc.net and get the truth about these dogs. Thank you.

Posted by: neva Location: colorado springs on May 9, 2008 at 06:24 PM
I don't think the dog is at fault it was doing what any dog would do. Not all pitbulls will bite, its in the way their raised and loved. Don't judge the breed it's the owners responsibility to control their dogs.

Posted by: K Location: Colo Sprgs on May 9, 2008 at 05:24 PM
How come everyone thinks the dog needs put down because it is a pit bull? We have one that looks almost identical to this one but he is the friendliest dog I have ever had. People are so stereotypical.

Posted by: Anonymous Location: csc on May 9, 2008 at 11:47 AM
I hope that the humane society puts the dog down before it has a chance to bite another person. Next time it could be a child.

Posted by: ami Location: idaho on May 9, 2008 at 07:41 AM
i hope they put the dog down. just another example of why pit bulls should not be aloud in city limits.
