Army investigators are looking into the death of a Fort Carson soldier who died while at Fort Irwin, California for training.

Fort Carson officials confirmed the death Saturday of 24-year-old Specialist Emily T. Ort of Willis, Texas, but had no other details.

On Tuesday night her family issued the following statement.
"Emily was a beautiful woman with a tenacious will. She recently reenlisted in the Army in order to continue to provide a good life for her 16-month-old son.

She was spontaneous and loved spending time with her family and friends. Emily was determined to succeed in everything she undertook.

Emily’s loss will be deeply felt by her friends and family for years to come. She was a loving mother, sister, daughter and a wonderful aunt."

Fort Irwin spokesman John Wagstaffe says Ort was discovered apparently asleep early Saturday, but when she didn't wake up, she was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of death is unknown. An autopsy is planned.

Ort was a member of the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division.

She had been in the Army since November 2003.
