A second U-S Olympic Committee official has resigned in protest over lack of action against a man accused³of ethics violations.
Pat Rodgers told The Gazette of Colorado Springs that he
submitted his resignation late last night. He says he can no longer
promote an ethics code that's not lived up to by leadership.
Chief Executive Lloyd Ward was accused of trying to steer
U-S-O-C business to a company affiliated with his brother. The
executive committee approved a report which said Ward created the
appearance of a conflict of interest, but declined to sanction him.
Executive committee member Brian Derwin quit Tuesday for the
same reason.
Rodgers says ethics committee chairman Ken Duberstein pressured
him to downplay the allegations against Ward.
Duberstein told the newspaper he was not aware Rodgers had
resigned. He declined to comment on the accusation.
