The head of the Air Force is urging the Senate Armed Services Committee to promote Brigadier General Johnny Weida -- who was accused of mixing religion with official duties as the Number Three commander at the Air Force Academy.
The committee put Weida's promotion to major general on hold last month while the accusations were investigated. Weida has since been cleared.
In a letter September 6th to the Armed Services Committee, acting Air Force Secretary Pete Geren said Weida has learned from his mistakes.
Weida was among leaders sent to the academy after previous school leaders were ousted over a scandal -- in which female cadets said they were punished for reporting they were sexually assaulted.
