Colorado ski resorts have gotten better snow than most other Western areas this winter and they've enjoyed an increase by 18 percent in the number of skiers through December.
Rob Perlman of Colorado Ski Country U.S.A. says the state's resorts are on pace with the record season of 1997-1998. Last season with low early snowfall, the fallout from September 11th and the subsequent economic decline -- numbers were down by four percent.
Joan Christensen of Winter Park says three of the resorts' top 20 days ever came during this year's holidays.
Colorado is the nation's Number One ski state. Its resorts account for more than 20 percent of annual skier days. A skier day represents the purchase and use of a lift ticket to ski or snowboard.
