A man shot by officers following a police chase last week has died.

Robert Kresky, 23, was shot on December 4 as he allegedly attempted to escape officers after wrecking a stolen vehicle.

Police say officers spotted Kresky driving the stolen car near Powers and Astrozon early that morning, and tried to pull him over. Kresky allegedly refused to stop, forcing a police chase on the east side of Colorado Springs before Kresky and an officer both wrecked near Platte and Union.

CSPD says Kresky tried to run at that point, forcing an officer to shoot him.

Kresky was taken to the ICU at Memorial Hospital. Police reported his death Saturday night.

The officer who shot Kresky is on administrative leave, which is standard procedure in an officer-involved shooting.
