El Paso County Sheriff’s detectives have obtained an arrest warrant charging 22-year-old Nickolous Acevedo of Colorado Springs, with Criminal Attempt First Degree Murder of a Peace Officer, First Degree Burglary, and Criminal Mischief.
On Monday, deputies interrupted an in-progress burglary and were fired upon by one of the two culprits, believed to have been Acevedo.
The shooting suspect was subsequently encountered running through the backyard of the home being burglarized, with a handgun.
The deputy returned fire, possibly wounding him.
Both suspects escaped.
Acevedo was identified by a neighbor on Lindstrom Drive, who witnessed him at the crime scene at the time of the incident.
Acevedo is described as a white male, 5’11” tall and weighing approximately 220 lbs.
He has brown hair and hazel eyes.
Acevedo should be considered armed and dangerous.
