Police say an 18-year-old is facing multiple felony charges on allegations of openly and actively soliciting underage girls for sex.
Authorities say there have been 200 potential victims identified, and could be even more. The suspect has been identified as Steven Leeper.
Springs police received information about Leeper's alleged crimes in December of last year. Through the investigation, police say they determined that Leeper contacted both girls and women through social media, first asking for explicit pictures and videos before requesting to meet up for sex. Police say Leeper offered to pay for the photos and sexual encounters.
Police say officers with the CSPD Vice and Trafficking team interviewed several possible victims over the course of the investigation, and established probable cause for Leeper's arrest. Leeper was arrested Wednesday night.
Leeper now faces the following charges: sexual exploitation of a child, solicitation for child prostitution, inducement of child prostitution, patronizing of a prostituted child, internet luring of a child, contributing to the delinquency of a minor and criminal extortion.
Authorities say there could be more victims, and ask that anyone who had an interaction with Leeper contact investigators at 444-7508.
