A Springs man is behind bars on allegations that he impersonated a police officer, then sexually assaulted a woman he knew.
The Colorado Springs Police Department arrested 24-year-old Stephen Frazier for the crime.
According to investigators, at approximately 2 p.m. on Monday, the Adult Sex Assault Unit (ASAU) received a call from a forensic nurse at Memorial Hospital who said they had a patient reporting that she was sexually assaulted by an undercover CSPD officer.
ASAU responded to the hospital with a CSPD victim advocate and initiated an investigation. The investigation continued over the next couple days and ultimately led to the identification and arrest of Colorado Springs resident Frazier.
Cops said the victim is acquainted with the suspect and in the short time she has known him he led her to believe he was an undercover narcotics officer with CSPD. Frazier is not a police officer with CSPD or any other law enforcement agency. He does work as a security guard.
