On Wednesday, October 12 at about 10:30 a.m., the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a telephone report from a citizen advising that seven of his horses had been found shot to death in a pasture near the area of N. Calhan Highway and Judge Orr Rd.

Deputies dispatched to the area confirmed that the seven horses were dead and had been shot.

The owner of the horses advised that he last saw the horses on Saturday, October 8, 2005, and they were in good condition at that time.

This is the second shooting of horses in Eastern El Paso County since September 19, 2005, when an Ellicott couple reported finding their horse shot to death in a pasture.

Investigators have not yet determined if these cases are connected, but are considering that possibility.

The culprit/s in this case face charges of Animal Cruelty and other associated felony charges.
