Just because we got 6 inches of snow doesn't really mean anything. With the wind speeds that we had it dried the snow out. So it really didn't have much moisture. Did you see how quickly it melted? It was dry.

Jack, since you think you know everything about how to put a fire out, maybe next the the FD should call you and let you put it out quick and fast. I guess they really didn't need all those firefighters on the ground since you know how to take care of things like this. Get a life go back to working in Burger King and let the real firefighters do their job. To the firefighters, GReaT JOB in keeping everyone safe. Do not let one person like Jack get to you. Keep up the good work and stay safe.

To Jack, Let me help you understand containment of a fire. Containment means puuting an unburnable ring completely around the burn area. Ft. Carson fire burned 9000 acres. An acre is approx. the size of a football field. Now picture 9000 football fields and try to imagine how long that unburnable ring must be. Add to this that the fire is in rough terrain and a lot of it is in terrain not accessible by fire engines. A lot of work has to be done on foot by hand. About the moisture. Snow is a good source of moisture granted but it is also a good insulator. A hot pocket of embers may be covered by snow but it can retain the heat and when the snow melts and the fuels dry again the embers may ignite another fire. Be patient with Ft. Carson FD, they are good at their job and will be very meticulous in making sure the fire is properly contained (ringed) and controlled (out).

How is the fire STILL not contained? we had 6 inches of snow last night, what is snow flammable? Get real, people. That fire is either dead or pretty near it. With this ammount of moisture, that thing will not flare up again.

Thank you to all the firefighters. Also prayers should be with the families that lost their loved ones.

it is easy to blame someone when they are the last ones to be doing something that would cause it. they Army as you say would do anything to make themsleves look good no matter whether they did or not, what until the investigation is complete and then conclude your own story on what caused the fire. maybe it was just an accident. but people have the freedom of speech let them think what they want.

ladys and gents i am a fire fighter and was on the fire gound. You can not say where the winds will blow this is colo and the winds change in a blink of an eye, So if they tell you to get out it is for your own safty. The fire fighters Are doing a great job give them a chance to do there job they are battling mother natcher. The news is doing a great job in reporting when the can there is always changes in a fire so give them a break. Sometimes maps are good but when you dont know what the weather is going to do maps dont really help. Thank god for fire fighters to look out for all of you who dont give them a chance. Why dont you go vol so know what it is like to do a tough job saveing lives.

I have an idea too. It's called posting a name. It's not like someone is going to find you.

I have an idea...until the Fire Chief says what started the fire, let's not assume the Army or anyone in paticular started the fire. No one will know the whole story and until the information is released....GIVE IT A BREAK! No one knows anything so stop assuming that you you do know!! And a HUGE thanks to the wonderful people who put their lives on the line to stop this fire and keep everyone safe!

3 firefighters have died trying to keep homes and people safe in southern CO. Regardless of how the fires started it would be nice for you all to silently thank those who go into harms way willingly. Should probably say a thank you to the firefighters families who encourage them to do their jobs as well.

We were at soccer practise when the man crashed from my home state. It's sad what's going on but you have to be pretty ignorant to blame anyone and use words like stupid when blaming anyone.

The smoke from the fire has taken a toll on on the City of Fountain, especially the people with allergies. We are only 1 mile East of Fort Carson and Tuesday night thick smoke and ash fell in Fountain just East of Highway 25. People in our neighborhood are sticking together and watching the fire closely. A map of where the fire is spreading would be a great help.
