A Colorado Springs-based ministry is applauding efforts at the U.S. Supreme Court to crack down on assisted suicide, by penalizing the doctors who prescribe drugs for ending a human life.
The Bush administration wants justices to stand in the way of an Oregon state law, which allows doctor-assisted suicides.
The White House says the federal Controlled Substances Act controls the use of such drugs, but supporters of Oregon's law say the act shouldn't apply -- claiming physician-assisted suicide is a legitimate medical practice.
