A citizen group has moved a recall effort for two El Paso County Commissioners to the next step.
"Together for Effective Alternatives", or "TEA" filed a petition at the county clerks office (Thursday) afternoon.
If the clerk validates the petition, "TEA" has 60 days to collect 30 thousand signatures to continue the recall process of County Commissioners Chuck Brown and Tom Huffman...
The controversy is over a $40 million jail and courthouse expansion. County commissioners say its necessary.
TEA says the taxpayers clearly said they didn't agree in last month's election. Now another group is getting involved.
The Quality Community Group is made up of several community organizations including the Chamber of Commerce. They said a recall could really hurt the Springs' economy.
Economist Rocky Scott warns a recall could cost taxpayers $300 to $350,000. The Quality Community Group is holding an open forum about the expansion Friday morning. It’s at the Antlers Doubletree Hotel at 10.
