(Denver-AP) -- Colorado lawmakers convened their 120-day session
Wednesday and immediately focused on paring the state budget -- which is in the worst crisis since World War Two.
They warned residents that few areas of the budget will be immune.
House Speaker Lola Spradley says the deficit estimated at $850 million is the largest shortfall since World War Two.
House Democrats say they will try to make sure the cuts are fair.
After the new lawmakers were sworn in and ceremonies finished the Joint Budget Committee began meetings to consider the first round of cuts.
