Confluence Park Groundbreaking

On Tuesday, workers broke ground on a multi-million dollar project in downtown Colorado Springs.

Mayor Mary Lou Makepeace revealed the prototype sign for Confluence Park on Conejos, it's between Colorado Avenue and Cimarron.

The hope is that, when the part is done in a few years, eventually businesses and homes will be developed around it. It's all part of an urban renewal project. Officials say the new park will add to sales tax revenue, helping to boost our local economy.

Part of the money to build Confluence Park came from the El Pomar Foundation, which gave $4 million to the project.
