A one billion dollar Pentagon contract awarded to Northrop Grumman could mean two-thousand more jobs in Colorado Springs.

That's because most of the work on missile defense projects in the contract will be done there.

The total value of the contract could rise to two-point-five billion dollars over its ten-year length.

Economist David Bamberger says the contract has the potential to indirectly create another 21-hundred jobs.

The contract calls for Northrop to continue its work with the Joint National Integration Center at Schriever Air Force Base -- imagining threat scenarios and then finding solutions through simulations and war-gaming.

Work on the first phase of the contract starts in February.
