Cheyenne Mountain Charter Academy in Colorado Springs is the state's top middle school for the second straight year.
The ranking is based on the Colorado Department of Education's raw data which it uses to grade schools. The state ranks schools asexcellent, high, average, low and unsatisfactory based on test scores.
The state's largest high school is also one of Colorado's best. Cherry Creek High School in Denver came in third behind Jefferson County's D'Evelyn Senior High and Fort Collins' charter school Ridgeview Classical School were the top three schools in the state.
The Challenge School in Cherry Creek, a magnet program that attracts students from across the state, was ranked the top elementary school.
