The first group of relocated soldiers from the Second Brigade Combat Team is on the ground in Colorado.
A plane carrying the troops landed in Colorado Springs around 12:15 Tuesday afternoon. The soldiers were then greeted by hundreds of family members at a ceremony at Fort Carson
The team had been stationed in South Korea, and deployed to Iraq from its base there. Military officials later determined the "Second B-C-T" would shift its base to Fort Carson.
Some 44-hundred soldiers from the brigade will eventually make the move.
The soldiers will now receive a 30-day post-deployment leave. Most are expected to go home to help their families move to Colorado.
Judy Woolly of Fort Carson's Army Community Service office says many families may not arrive until fall.
The Second Brigade has lost 68 soldiers in Iraq.
