A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
Human remains found southeast of De Beque are those of a teenage girl who went missing nearly five years ago. Mesa County Coroner Rob Kurtzman confirmed the skeletal remains are those of Coty Vernon. The 18-year-old Gypsum teen was last seen with a man named Jason Gartner, who accompanied her from a party. Mesa County sheriff's deputy Tanya Brechlin says investigators are trying to determine whether there was foul play.
Deputies launched an intensive search for Vernon when she went
missing. Her remains were found outside of the search area last
weekend by an elk hunter. They were found about three miles from the area where Vernon's car had been left.
