Guidelines on Religious Expression Drafted

The Air Force has prepared a draft of guidelines meant to discourage religious harassment -- but they likely won't be made public until August.

Rabbi Arnold Resnicoff says the guidelines are 90 percent common sense while maybe 10 percent are controversial.

Resnicoff is an adviser to the Air Force on religious issues and spoke Friday to the academy's Board of Visitors, which oversees the school.

Board member and Republican U.S. Senator Wayne Allard had asked the Air Force to have the guidelines available for review Friday -- but Resnicoff says they're taking longer than expected.

The guidelines come after the Air Force investigated complaints of religious intolerance at the academy. The investigation found that leaders had failed to accommodate the diverse religious needs of students.
