An Air Force computer security specialist is indicted on a federal charge of producing child pornography in Colorado.
The move is the latest development in a long-running, multi-agency investigation into his activities.
The indictment says 44-year-old Tech Sergeant Erik Dean Rabes enticed a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct and produce a visual depiction of that conduct in November 2000.
Rabes was stationed in Colorado Springs then. He most recently was assigned to the U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base south of Omaha.
Rabes is held on a one million-dollar bond in Sarpy County Jail. He is charged in Sarpy County with sexual assault of a child from Bellevue.
The federal indictment was based, in part, on evidence recovered by the Nebraska State Patrol.
The patrol arrested Rabes in December on suspicion of attempted distribution and possession with intent to distribute child pornography.
Rabes was out of jail on bond when Bellevue police took him into custody in April on the sexual assault charge.
State Patrol Sergeant Scott Christensen says the Bellevue case and others involving Rabes in Sarpy and Douglas counties are interrelated.
