Good news for the region's economy.

An academic survey of business managers indicates Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming should see job growth in the first six months of this year.

That's welcomed news after several quarters of declining or stagnant employment.

The overall Mountain States business conditions index declined slightly in December to 52.6 from 56.9 in November.

The index is compiled in Omaha, Nebraska, by Creighton University economics professor Ernie Goss.

An index greater than 50 indicates an expectation of growth in the months ahead. Goss surveys business supply managers and leaders for his monthly index.
