A 24-year-old Pueblo man is free after shooting a man in the chest nine times, killing him.
Pueblo police detectives say, Andrew Sandoval may have been defending himself. Authorities questioned Sandoval on Saturday and then released him.
The shooting happened inside Sandoval's apartment on Midway Ave near Abriendo Ave and South Union Ave.
Apparently, police say there was a small party going on at Sandoval's apartment when a group of guys showed up.
Detective Eric Bravo with the Pueblo Police Department says, Sandoval's girlfriend's cousin invited a man over who she met on-line and he brought three other men with him.
"He has a right to protect himself in his own home," said Det. Bravo.
It was one of the four guys who was shot and killed by Sandoval after he says all four of them attacked him.
Sandoval called 9-1-1 immediately after the shooting.
Yellow caution tape surrounded Sandoval's Pueblo apartment for hours after the shooting.
"There was a lot of blood evidence and a lot of damage done to the walls inside the apartment," said Det. Bravo.
Det. Bravo said 9 rounds of bullets from a Glock 9MM were shot out from Sandoval's gun which he legally owns.
Isabel Ruybal lives next door to Sandoval and she said, "I heard the shots like 6 in a row, real rapid."
"Sandoval cooperated fully and his story was corroborated with the evidence that was inside the house," said Det. Bravo.
Police say Sandoval does not have a criminal history and as so far has not been charged with anything.
The man killed had no Identification on him. Police are still trying to figuring out who he is.
All the evidence will be sent to Pueblo's district attorney. He will determine if the incident was self-defense or not.
Police are asking the other three men involved come forward to tell their side of the story.
