A former U.S. Forest Service worker pleaded guilty to setting fire to federal land and making false statements to investigators -- and a presentence report has been ordered by the judge.
Terry Lynn Barton entered the pleas to the count Friday afternoon in a plea agreement which proposes that she spend from 70 to 87
months in federal prison. However when Judge Richard Matsch accepted the guilty pleas he also ordered a presentencing investigation before imposing a penalty.
The fire that began near Lake George ravaged 137,000 of the Pike National Forest and nearby lands and destroyed 133 homes and a business. State officials are considering additional charges of arson
against Barton for the homes and business destroyed in the blaze.
