Denver wants a federal bankruptcy judge to make United Airlines pay 7-point-4 (M) million dollars in property taxes immediately.

Banks that lent United money to operate during bankruptcy rank
higher than the city on the company's list of secured creditors,
meaning their claims would be repaid first.

So the city filed a motion in Chicago on Monday, asking the
judge to place its claim for 2002 property taxes ahead of other
creditors.

Under United's agreements with its lenders, the airline could
put off payent of such taxes for up to six years.
