A medical helicopter crashed in a remote area in southwest Colorado today, killing all three people on board.

The Montezuma County coroner says the victims are the pilot and two emergency workers.

Their identities haven't been released.

The helicopter crashed while trying to land in a wooded area near Mancos to pick up a patient injured in a logging accident.

David Bruzzese, spokesman for Mercy Medical Center in Durango, says the crew was employed by Tri-State Careflight, which is headquartered in Bullhead City, Arizona.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer says the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
