Christmas Pardon

Gov. Bill Owens pardoned a 71-year-old grandfather on Christmas Eve so he could go hunting with his grandson.

Donald McIntosh's pardon is only the fourth granted by the governor. Owens cited the man's exemplary citizenship over the past 50 years.

McIntosh says his record became an issue when he tried getting a gun to take his grandson bird hunting.

People convicted of a felony can vote once they've completed their sentence, but cannot carry a gun.

McIntosh pleaded no contest in 1952 to receiving stolen property after a high school friend sold him some tires.

McIntosh says he did not know the tires were taken from a stolen car. Authorities at the time told him he would have no criminal record.
