Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan says no matter how healthy quarterback Brian Griese is Sunday, backup Steve Beuerlein will get the start against Arizona.

Griese appeared shaken and downcast today when talking with reporters after practice.

He says he feels uncertain about his future with Denver after Shanahan told him he wouldn't start on Sunday.

Griese re-injured his left knee in the second quarter last weekend against Oakland.

That 28-to-16 loss dropped Griese's career record to 26-and-25 and increased the chances of Denver missing the playoffs for the third time in his four years as the starter.

After a shaky 2001 season that saw Griese threw 19 interceptions, he's been inconsistent this year.

He's been plagued by injuries and mistakes in the last half of the season.

Griese says he didn't participate in practice Wednesday, but he plans to test his knee Thursday.
