The attorney for a former Air Force Academy cadet allegedly raped by an officer calls it "a travesty and a dark day."
That's after a military judge Friday halted the rape trial of First Lieutenant Joseph Harding at Randolph Air Force Base, near San Antonio.
The decision came after the cadet's civilian rape counselor Jennifer Bier continued to refuse to hand over records of their conversations.
However, Harding's court-martial on a charge of indecent assault against another cadet will proceed.
The judge didn't elaborate on his ruling.
The ruling was in response to a defense motion to stop the trial. Defense attorney David Sheldon said access to the counselor's records were necessary for a fair trial.
