Anti War Banner Burned

An anti-war banner at the Pikes Peak Justice and Peace Commission was burned, and officials believe it was arson.

The large cloth banner was hanging from the second-floor window of the commission's office with the message Don't Bomb Iraq. It was sprayed with an accelerant, then lit on fire. Firefighters say the other banner, reading Let Iraq Live, also was drenched in a flammable liquid, but not torched.

Since the Sept. 11 attacks, the group has been vocal in its criticism of the Bush administration's policies in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Commission members say they hope the suspects are sentenced to community service at the commission, so they can be taught that the group promotes peace.
