An inmate is being charged with attempted second-degree murder in connection with the riot at the Crowley County Correctional Facility in July.
District Attorney Rod Fouracre the charge comes against Colorado inmate Reuben Sustatia and that he expects more charges against other inmates soon.
More than a third of the prison's more than 1,100 inmates joined in the July uprising that damaged at least two of the facility's five housing units. Inmates set three fires, damaged living units and destroyed a vocational greenhouse.
Colorado inmate Rudy Lujan was stabbed and assaulted.
